Sayuri NAITO
Fine art photographer. Born 1978 in Hiroshima Prefecture. She lives and works in Tokyo, JAPAN.
In 2005, she was selected to participate in the Photo Premio competition sponsored by Konica Minolta. She won the prize and held a solo exhibition of her work. In 2009, she was selected by the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography as one of six emerging Japanese artists to exhibit her work 'Ponte 25 de Abril'. The work is part of the museum's collection. The exhibition toured six museums in three countries, including the Japan Cultural Institute in Paris, Portugal and Mexico, and was supported by the Japan Foundation. Since then she has been active as an artist, exhibiting and selling her work in galleries both nationally and internationally.
She has published three books of photographs, 'Ponte 25 de Abril', 'TRINTY' and 'Once in a Blue Moon'. Her work creates portraits of the city, interweaving light and darkness with her distinctive colour.
